SPORTS MASSAGE AND SOFT TISSUE THERAPY

Fit for Sport, Fit for Work, Fit for Life

What is Sports Massage?

Sports massage or more recently Soft Tissue Therapy, targets the body's soft tissues i.e. fascia, muscles, tendons and ligaments to address injury or dysfunction. Sports Massage uses a combination of techniques including traditional massage, deep tissue massage, Trigger Point therapy and joint manipulation to stretch muscle and ease tension, so relieving pain. It treats everyone from the hobby gardener, work related muscle dysfunction to the athlete.

Protect, prolong and advance your active lifestyle.

Sometimes our bodies adapt to pain or injury by unconsciously changing the way we hold ourselves. This can lead to muscle imbalances so, for example, what  appears to be a hip pain, can have its cause in the ankle (or vice versa) via the knee. This is why Steve will conduct a range of tests to identify the root cause.

He will then use a range of techniques, including Deep tissue massage, Neuromuscular Techniques (NMT), Myofascial release,  Soft Tissue Release, Muscle Energy Techniques (MET), Assisted Stretching as well as the more familiar techniques skills to ease the tension in the muscle, alleviate pain and restore mobility and function to the affected area. Other techniques available to him are Dry Needling, Medical Acupuncture, Mobilisation techniques, Instrument assisted mobilisation plus Taping and Strapping. (see the blog post "Pretty coloured tape but what does it do?)

For the sports orientated among you we offer pre-event sports massage to encourage circulation, muscle warming and nerve preparation and so improve performance and minimise risk of injury.

We also offer Post event sports massage to calm the nerve fibres, generate restorative circulation and to drain the waste products, so reducing fatigue and reducing the chance of muscle soreness.

£50 per treatment
